Chances are that if you’re reading this article, you’ve asked “WHEN” at some point in your own rural broadband journey. You may have uttered it with a snarl of frustration or with a hint of giddy enthusiasm. Or maybe both at different points!
When will fiber come to my home/neighborhood/community is probably the most common question we hear –and we get it! You went without options for a long time, and now the best possible option is dangling out in front of you – close enough to touch, yet not close enough to log in and use!
Five years from now, folks in southwest Michigan will be able to sign up and get service almost immediately. Those of you waiting patiently (or not-so-patiently) in the crowd are on the groundfloor of this landmark revolution. We’re building a fiber communications system from scratch, and off of that system we’re extending your fiber internet. In five years, the system will be fully implemented, and delivering the voice and data solutions will be simple. Today, not so simple and not so fast.
We produced this video to help explain the many steps in the process of bringing fiber internet to your premise. While it may not make you any more patient, it hopefully will make you a little more understanding of everything we’re doing today to bring reliable solutions for your future.
We’re working with you and for you to change the landscape of rural southwest Michigan. Like those who waited so patiently for electricity in the 1930s, someday soon you’ll be able to say, “I remember the day the co-op came and installed the fiber internet …”
